Loro Asian Smokehouse & Bar Houston
Abel Design Group’s Loro Asian Smokehouse & Bar in Houston transforms a former auto body shop into a vibrant venue, merging industrial elements with organic warmth and inviting community connection.
Loro Asian Smokehouse & Bar transforms a former neighborhood auto body shop into a vibrant dining destination that blends industrial edge with organic warmth. Abel Design Group provided exterior building and patio design, collaborated with Hai Hospitality on the interiors, and handled documentation for permitting and construction. The adaptive reuse project incorporates contemporary metal wall panels, contrasting wood tones, and drought-resistant native landscaping, with features like an expansive shaded patio with a walk-up outdoor bar, exposed structural trusses, and linear skylights flooding the interior with natural light. Black vertical wood siding, white oak window frames, and natural oak paneling balance the raw and refined, while the volumetric interior space—with open sightlines and high ceilings—encourages community connection. The result is a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces, creating an inviting, neighborhood-focused landmark that reflects both the city’s energy and the restaurant’s ethos of balance and harmony.
