Mulberry Bakery
Open AD designed the Mulberry Bakery with thoughtful colors and a welcoming environment to relax and enjoy their time in Riga.
Located in Riga’s so-called ‘Quiet Centre’, a lavish neighbourhood rich in Art Nouveau, Mulberry is an upscale alternative to the city’s many casual, drop-in style bakeries.
The affluent neighbourhood is tranquil and dotted in green. The 20th century building, in which Mulberry is found, was recently refurbished. We reflect the colors of its facade in the interior along with mulberry-inspired tones. Throughout the space, rounded shapes also honour the building’s Art Nouveau heritage. While many original interior features had been lost, we chose to reinstate a sense of history and nod towards the area’s pre-war heyday. Exquisite materials like marble, brass and the floor tiles, as well as the stylised, custom-made furniture helped us achieve a feeling of historical luxury.
The welcoming environment with features like window seats invites customers to allow themselves a slow experience. Indeed the atmosphere opposes the fast pace of 21st century living.
A standout feature is Open AD’s handmade and one-of-a-kind wall decor. Pieced together from a patissier’s tools, the decor is an homage to the work that goes in to every cake and pastry. The patissiers’ creations are displayed like pieces of art in the bespoke counter with an elegant glass top. A miniature cake gallery.
