Anokhi Bar & Grill
Newkirk Studio blended regional elements to honor the food while embracing a playful and modern approach to the design of Anokhi Bar & Grill.
We drew inspiration from the merchants that traveled along the Grand Trunk Road by wagon, from Persia through India. These merchants would buy & sell items along the way, creating a fusion of styles and artifacts — a story & concept developed for Anokhi: The Traveled Merchant.
Some recognizable elements from the Persian-Indian region are adapted with an overall modern aesthetic and ambiance. The base architectural material palette is neutral and natural. Textured concrete, limestone terrazzo flooring, patterned ceramic tiles, and plants. The color accents come through in the artwork, furniture, bar counter, and regional artifacts that support the story of a traveling merchant that has gathered and traded throughout this region over time.
