Bake Bar Paddington
Bake Bar’s latest store design by Blacksheep incorporates a contemporary materials palette while maintaining its traditional and community-focused values, taking inspiration from the bread-making process with subtle references throughout the space.
Bake Bar is an organic bakery that prides itself on being an accessible, local providore with locations throughout Sydney’s Eastern suburbs. Inspired by traditional Mediterranean and European recipes, the brands latest store sees them occupy a new development in the heart of Paddington. The brief required us to elevate the existing aesthetic by introducing a more contemporary materials palette whilst not losing site of the brands local, community focused values.
The design direction took visual cues from the traditional process of bread making and re-interpreted them to create subtle reference points throughout the space. The core brand colour is realised in a black batten feature wall that encloses the kitchen pass that references the slatted racks that oven hot bread is cooled on. Black stained timber chairs compliment this feature throughout and the space is grounded with a large scale herringbone timber floor.
