The Godfrey Hotel Detroit
Designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects, Neumann/Smith Architecture and The Getty’s Group, The Godfrey Hotel in Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood celebrates art and culture with a harmonious blend of geometrics, urban flair, and elegance, reflecting the industrious spirit of the city.
Welcome to The Godfrey Hotel where design is a celebration of art and culture – a harmonious blend of rhythmic geometrics, urban flair, and tailored elegance. Located in Detroit’s historic Corktown neighborhood, The Godfrey Hotel was designed to be a natural addition to the community. Everything from the vibrant murals and repetitive nature of the windows, to the Detroit-centric embellishments and textured furniture, represent Corktown and the industrious spirit of the city.
This 143,000-sf, 227-room hotel is designed to welcome travelers to the unique, historic neighborhood while supporting those who call Corktown home. The project team took special care to understand the needs of the community through visioning sessions and surveys, which is reflected in the design.
The hotel offers a ground-floor restaurant, Hamilton’s, and on the top floor, the I|O Godfrey Rooftop Lounge. The lounge creates a transformative experience with high-contrast, romantic lighting and retractable walls and roof for panoramic views of the city.
The lobby and pre-function spaces exude comfort and boldness, featuring a curated layering of architectural elements inspired by Detroit’s industrial elegance. The hotel mixes timeless elements with modern themes; clean lines contrast and complement the layered pattern aesthetic. The grand ballroom echoes the glamour of Detroit, with expansive ceilings, bold colors, and a celebration of custom lighting.
Guest rooms are a reflection of loft living with reflective spaces featuring luxurious materials, warm accent colors, and elements that embrace the sophistication found throughout the hotel. Each room feels like it’s tailor made for Corktown, with thematic art, color, and pattern strategically placed to captivate and engage. The effortless details and sleek style of the furniture, art, and amenities all contribute to the overall narrative: an elegant, elevated beacon for the Corktown community.
In every corner, the hotel is a lively and adventurous journey, offering an immersive experience that goes beyond the expected. The Godfrey Hotel is a place where culture and art take center stage, inviting guests to embrace Detroit’s dynamic energy.
