  • Hot Design Folks, a Singapore-based interior design studio specializing in hospitality design, has completed a new Bakery & Pizzeria in Dairy Farm, Singapore. The 88-square-meter space seamlessly blends traditional craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics, redefining the dining experience through a design inspired by the art of breadmaking.

    Design Concept
    The architectural narrative takes cues from the tactile process of baking, with each element thoughtfully curated to enhance the sensory experience. A distinctive ceiling installation, inspired by traditional bread cooling racks, establishes a visual dialogue with the monolithic stone counter below, its textured surface recalling freshly kneaded dough. Meanwhile, feature wall sconces reminiscent of baking loaf trays further immerse guests in the concept.

    Materials & Features
    The material palette is a tribute to natural textures, featuring limestone in honed and split-face finishes, which forms the dramatic central counter. This is complemented by whitewashed brick walls and light timber finishes, creating a warm yet refined atmosphere. The Plank Sourdough Pizza section is distinguished by rustic pine timber planks—a signature material of the brand—along with an impressive pizza oven visible from the street.

    Customer Experience
    At the heart of the space, a communal table extends from the bread counter, encouraging interaction and shared dining experiences. A long upholstered banquette, designed in textiles reminiscent of traditional flour sacks, further enhances the intimate yet dynamic setting. Premium furniture from Karimoku New Standard, GUBI, Maruni, Pedrali, New Volumes, and HAY lends a sophisticated touch while maintaining a relaxed ambiance.

    Technical Details
    The new Bakery & Pizzeria accommodates 48 guests, with 35 indoor seats and 13 outdoor seats. Key design features include a suspended acoustic ceiling baffle in timber veneer, custom millwork in pine wood planks and Dekton quartz finishes, and artisanal wall treatments in limewash paint and whitewashed brick. These elements establish distinct spatial zones while preserving a cohesive design language.
