SC | Centro Zapopan
Neutro Estudio designed a unique restaurant in Zapopan, inspired by local culture, with a focus on maximizing space, creating visual spaciousness, and incorporating a mural by a Mexican graphic artist.
Strategically located in the heart of Zapopan -within the metropolitan area of Guadalajara city-, this restaurant was conceived as a gastronomic space inspired by its surrounding cultural context: the Zapopan Arte Museum and the MAZ Station.
The primary challenge was to maximize the use of the commercial space, where the bar area plays a central role in configurating the spatial dynamics. This element demarcates the public area from the kitchen, creating a dialogue of volumes and depths.
Despite the small area, the studio took advantage from the structure’s height, to introduce visual elements that enhance the sense of spaciousness. Floor-to-ceiling windows establish a connection to the exterior, extending the dining area onto the terrace.
To create a unique identity, the Mexican graphic artist was invited to design a mural that continuously engages with the space. This artwork blends visual elements of Japanese culture and gastronomy, where curved lines, floral elements and fish drawings are combined to create an atmosphere that not only complements but reinforces the restaurant’s concept.
The interior design stands out for its careful selection of materials, including ceramic tiles on the walls and bar, as well as stainless steel for the furniture and surfaces. Green tones, accented with black details and steel highlights, establish a harmonious contrast, imbued with an elegant and timeless character.
Lighting design, combined with the furniture and decoration, transforms the space into more than just a functional area, it becomes a sensory experience that invites both contemplation and enjoyment. Every element has been thoughtfully considered to craft a unique atmosphere that enhances both art and gastronomy, integrating Japanese tradition with contemporary design.
