balbek bureau’s misto.cafe in Lutsk, seamlessly blends a neighborly atmosphere with versatile seating and dynamic spaces, fostering community engagement through thoughtful design and local artistic influences.
misto.cafe is a social impact cafe in Lutsk, Ukraine, with a neighborly atmosphere and diverse seating options, allowing everyone to find their place and gather for different occasions.
The façade side of the café is the cafeteria-style day zone with mobile seating along the panoramic windows. A massive concrete bar counter with a gradient texture accentuates the nuance of cozy colors and bright space.
The entrance vestibule is designed as a transparent orange cube. To the left of the entrance is a soft waiting area, assembled from custom elements, to the right – a plywood cabinet divided into compartments for various functions.
An evening zone offers soft lounge seating and hosts various events. The focal point of this area is the podium-like stage. Another highlight is the bar counter with a metal rainbow finish. It is illuminated by a radial lamp crafted from stainless steel and ribbed acrylic.
At the entrance to the evening hall, there is a corner lounge seating area with an orange sofa and three armchairs. A round carpet from the Kononenko Industrial Design adds to the composition.
The wall hiding the bathroom entrance is covered with a collection of local art curated by Lutsk artist Dima Mykytenko, creating a gallery with framed images in different formats that attract visitors’ eyes.
The bathrooms are decorated with Italian Marazzi tiles. The ceiling here features a composition of wine corks strung on a cable, symbolizing the idea of uncorking new experiences.
