  • In Downtown Washington D.C., patrons are transported to the vibrant, culture-rich streets of Barcelona through a modern, yet authentic Spanish dining experience brought to life by local architecture and design firm //3877. Located within the historically-renovated Arlo Hotel, Chef Pepe Moncayo’s latest F&B venture, Arrels pays homage to the chef’s Spanish heritage––in fact, Arrels means “roots” in Catalan. With a signature tapas menu complemented by warm materials and time-worn details reimagined on modern forms, Arrels boasts a rich materiality and striking palette that leaves a lasting impression on guests.

The 10,000 square foot space celebrates contrast by pairing tactile natural materials, soft foliage, and traditional motifs with sleek metals, and modern art installations. Outfitted with warm terracotta tile, textured plaster, brick backdrops, and inviting wood tones, guests find respite in familiarity of the space while modern elements bring a sense of edge and intrigue.
