  • Terme di Saturnia Natural Destination, a temple of longevity in the heart of Tuscany’s Maremma region where wellness has revolved around its powerful thermal water for over 3000 years, reopens the doors of its Resort, Golf, and Club after a major renovation. The updates include a refreshed 1919 Restaurant, a new winter garden, and a relaxation area that overlooks the spring pool. The project also involves the revitalization of La Stellata Trattoria, a country-style restaurant overlooking the golf course.

This project puts the guest at the center of the experience: every innovation is the result of careful listening to their desires and, at times, even their direct suggestions—particularly those of the many loyal guests who return regularly to Terme di Saturnia.

The concept for the winter garden with a relaxation area by the spring pool and the 1919 Restaurant, designed by THDP, stems from the desire to highlight the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces, fulfilling guests’ wish to dine or enjoy breakfast while admiring the spring water. To achieve this, both areas feature an outdoor-inspired look and feel.

Finishes were harmonized between interior and exterior using saturated tones in line with the wall finishes. In the winter garden, walls remain neutral as very little surface is exposed. The backdrop of the veranda features a vinyl wall covering named Pini Marittimi, designed by Marta Cortese. This wallpaper by Jannelli & Volpi extends the view from the springs to the hills of Saturnia, creating the illusion of a continuous natural landscape.

Inside the 1919 Restaurant, THDP chose another Jannelli & Volpi wallpaper with a classical floral motif, extending the rustic theme seen throughout the project. Leaf patterns evoking the gardens of Saturnia, with olive green and terracotta hues, complete the ambiance. Interior walls are finished with a terracotta effect, and the ceilings are painted a dusty blue to evoke a serene water-like atmosphere.

Most furnishings are by Talenti Outdoor, including armchairs accented with leaf-patterned decorative cushions, matching the custom-designed dishware for these spaces. Tables feature glazed Zellige terracotta tiles by Marazzi in tones that echo the spring.

Indoors, Livoni’s cozy armchairs surround round tables. Decorative lighting by Toscot, a Tuscan company specializing in handmade terracotta, is used in both the restaurant and the winter garden. In the latter, point-suspension lights evoke string lighting, giving the appearance of a large lantern reflected on the water—visible even from the outside at night.

THDP also created a new indoor relaxation lounge next to the Roman bath, expanding the guest experience with loungers facing the spring. A sliding door connects this lounge with the restaurant, creating a flexible space for events.

The relaxation lounge features a central firepit surrounded by welcoming poufs, ideal for unwinding. Two Talenti swings, positioned toward the spring, complete the room. Furnishing colors are natural tones of rope and sand. Along the walls, Talenti loungers with cushions and light curtains offer privacy.
