  • The concept for the Asher Adams Hotel represents the industrious, pioneering spirit of Salt Lake City’s founders. The hotel is an adaptive reuse hospitality concept housed inside a 1908 Union Pacific Railroad station, complemented by a new eight-story addition. The hotel honors the building’s rich history while introducing a new-age design that integrates the past and present. The vision was to breathe new life into the historic space while establishing an energized hub for human connectivity. Designed by JNS Architecture with custom furniture made by Coast to Coast Custom Furniture, the hotel is a celebration of the era of travel and exploration.

A particular priority of the build was to maintain the historic fabric of the railroad station’s Grand Hall, including original light fixtures, tile, and molding details, while merging new design elements. Custom furnishings throughout the suites, restaurant, and grand hall were crafted by Coast to Coast Custom Furniture. The intent behind the custom furniture and lighting was to create a modern aesthetic that nods to the past through the use of contemporary forms and sophisticated materials. Coast to Coast used a palette of velvets, leathers, mixed metals, and wood tones to achieve a thoughtful blend of traditional and industrial elements.

In addition to the existing historic building, Coast to Coast crafted distinct furnishings for the guestrooms. The guestrooms within the original station lean more traditional—bright and airy, with exposed brick walls and a palette that enhances the space’s historic charm. In contrast, the tower guestrooms take on a moodier tone while still referencing the past through details like plaid menswear-inspired fabrics and rich walnut wood tones. An art collection throughout the hotel was curated based on local artists, and historic artifacts are displayed to complement contemporary bespoke pieces.
