Mercury Rooftop Bar at Four Seasons Jumeirah, Dubai
S+S (Sundukovy Sisters) Design & Architecture Studio reimagines celestial allure at Mercury Rooftop Bar in Dubai with sculptural forms and reflective materials, crafting a vibrant, immersive experience above the iconic Four Seasons.
Introducing Mercury Rooftop at Four Seasons Jumeirah, the latest addition to the ongoing collaboration between S+S (Sundukovy Sisters) Design & Architecture Studio and Four Seasons Hotels. Following the redesign of Luna Sky Bar and Penrose Lounge, the studio returns with a bold and atmospheric concept that draws inspiration from the planet Mercury and its fluid, cosmic symbolism.
Set atop one of Dubai’s most iconic locations, the new rooftop bar merges celestial motifs with panoramic views, resulting in an immersive and timeless destination. The design balances statement-making sculptural forms with a refined material palette and thoughtful spatial choreography — a signature of the studio’s approach to high-end hospitality.
Inspiration and concept
Taking cues from both the planet Mercury and the element it shares a name with, the design explores themes of speed, reflection, and energy. At its core stands a sculptural, liquid-silver bar — a visual metaphor for fluidity and motion. Soft curves, mirrored surfaces, and a warm-toned palette create a continuous interplay between stillness and flow, light and material.
While the interior radiates dynamic energy, the surrounding architecture remains resolutely solid, amplifying the contrast between structure and atmosphere — a deliberate tension that adds depth to the guest experience.
The bar
The central bar is conceived as both object and sculpture — a molten form that anchors the space and glows under shifting light. Its seamless curves, crafted using advanced casting techniques, reference the shimmer and viscosity of liquid metal.
Opposite, a smaller champagne bar is tucked into a golden alcove, offering an intimate vantage point over the Dubai skyline. Both bars are strategically positioned to support a lively, free-flowing layout, encouraging interaction while maintaining elegance and ease.
Color palette and lighting
A carefully curated mix of warm and cool hues creates a layered visual experience. Accent lighting highlights clusters of greenery and reflects subtly off metallic surfaces, producing a glow that evolves from day to night. Upholstered seating in earthy tones grounds the atmosphere while reinforcing the bar’s tactile identity.
Materials and art
Material selection emphasizes movement and sensuality. Arabescato Orobico Grigio marble floors mirror the layered veining of planetary strata, while tabletops made from Supreme Blue quartzite, Copacabana granite, and BACCARAT milk onyx add depth and tone variation.
Custom chairs with upholstery that mimics liquid metal enhance the narrative, while kinetic art installations — including delicate hanging paper pieces that respond to the breeze — infuse the space with rhythm and lightness.
In one of the towers, a 3D projection mapping experience animates walls and ceilings with visuals that simulate quicksilver in motion — a digital layer that deepens the immersive environment and underlines the bar’s cosmological concept.
