RATIO Design’s InterContinental Hotel in downtown Indianapolis harmoniously integrates historic architecture with modern luxury, showcasing a meticulous renovation of the iconic 1926 Illinois Building while preserving its timeless charm.

The InterContinental Hotel Indianapolis is a renovation of the historic 1926 Illinois Building, located at 17 West Market Street in Indianapolis. Originally designed by Indianapolis architects, Rubush & Hunter, the hotel is located within the Monument Circle District as administered by the Indianapolis Historic Preservation Commission (IHPC).
Listed within the Washington Street-Monument Circle National Register Historic District, The InterContinental features 150,000 GSF, including a basement, ten floors above grade, with a new 11th floor Penthouse. The hotel’s concrete frame structure has granite exterior cladding on the first two floors, Indiana Limestone on the upper floors, and is capped with a terra cotta cornice. The renovation includes 170 guest rooms, 5,000 SF meeting and event space, the Astrea rooftop bar, and a two Bedroom Presidential Suite. The renovation of the building included new plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
