  • HBA San Francisco, in close collaboration with Pebble Beach Company, announces the recently completed transformation of the historic Lodge main building at The Lodge at Pebble Beach, located along California’s Central Coast. Distinguished by its views overlooking the Pacific Ocean, The Lodge occupies one of the most spectacular settings in the world, framing the iconic 18th green of Pebble Beach Golf Links, where golf’s greatest champions have been crowned.

Shaped by the breathtaking Monterey Peninsula coastline and the golf destination’s storied heritage, the redesign honors tradition while redefining the guest experience for generations to come. HBA San Francisco approached the project through a lens of continuity, refining the Lodge’s existing architectural integrity while integrating contemporary character and a deeper connection to locality.

Upon entering The Lodge, guests encounter a lighter, more unified arrival experience. Crisp millwork, new patterned carpet, and textile wallcoverings establish an elevated residential sensibility, while reimagined trophy and memorabilia display cabinets celebrate Pebble Beach’s renowned golf legacy, automotive excellence, and culinary richness.

The lobby opens into the Terrace Lounge, an elegant, multifunctional social hub that transitions seamlessly from morning coffee to cocktail hours at dusk. A new service bar anchors the space, while a rhythmic coffered ceiling guides the eye outward toward the horizon. Furniture vignettes, layered textures, and a tonal color palette invite comfort and sociability for enjoying the magnificent views.

Directly accessed from the lounge, the expanded terrace introduces an entirely new outdoor experience overlooking the 18th green. Fire pit tables foster camaraderie around the glow of an open flame—a cozy complement to the vast panorama beyond. Oversized umbrellas, designed to preserve sightlines from both terrace and lounge, provide shade when the coastal fog recedes.

Perched just above the course, Stillwater pays tribute to its surroundings with fresh perspective and crafted maritime details. Marble accents, knotted rope screening elements, and a large-scale school of fish installation nod subtly to the region’s seafaring past.

The reoriented bar commands the unparalleled ocean view and serves as a focal point. Natural materials, sculptural lighting, and tailored detailing immerse guests in an atmosphere of effortless sophistication, where the interplay of natural light and warm illumination shifts the ambiance as day turns into night.

A series of dining zones orchestrates a natural cadence while ensuring the ocean remains a constant companion. Banquette dining nooks offer a sense of privacy along the upper level. Arched brick portals and sweeping window walls define the dining room below, striking a balance between grandeur and intimacy. A procession of banquettes continues along the main dining room’s back wall with antique mirrors reflecting the monumental view of the course and Stillwater Cove, multiplying the sense of place and light.

Designed for versatility, the Lone Cypress Room accommodates private dining and special events with equal grace. Custom millwork cabinets showcase curated collections of wine and artifacts, while stone countertops double as elegant service stations, and a newly added private terrace extends the experience outdoors.

Beloved traditions continue inside The Tap Room, which feels both revitalized and familiar. Signature amber wood tones, green accents, and gallery-style arrangements documenting golf’s biggest moments preserve a recognizable energy. An expanded bar and the addition of the Champion Room deliver elevated hospitality and flexibility for larger gatherings.

Architectural clarity and exquisite craftsmanship emphasize adaptability and an ever-present connection to the landscape throughout the meeting and event spaces. New floor-to-ceiling fireplaces wrapped in a soothing blue tone ground the Card and Library Rooms in warmth and seaside serenity inspired by the waters of Stillwater Cove. Designed to function together or independently, the rooms are divided by large sliding panels, allowing the space to host groups of varying sizes with similar ease. A newly constructed window wall and exterior terrace flood the rooms with natural light.

The Stevenson Room now connects directly to the Lone Cypress Room through a newly designed space, creating fluid transitions between meeting and dining functions. The addition of a grand staircase, pre-function spaces, and an elevator enhances circulation and accessibility while maintaining harmony with the rest of The Lodge.
