The Drake Oak Brook Office Plaza Lobby
Chronicle, an EWP Studio renovated the Drake Oak Brook Office Plaza Lobby in Oak Brook to redefine the arrival experience with a sophisticated blend of light, warmth, and modern functionality.
The newly renovated Drake Oak Brook Plaza Lobby stands as a testament to what forward-thinking design can achieve: a welcoming, future-ready workplace destination that feels as inspiring as it is functional.
A once-dated lobby has been reimagined as a modern gateway. The new arrival experience reflects the evolving expectations of today’s workforce. The transformation introduces a bold new identity rooted in light, warmth and sophistication.
The redesigned arrival sequence begins at the threshold. Reimagined lighting and a rich palette of wood finishes bring depth and warmth. These elements ground the space in a material language that is both contemporary and timeless. Custom millwork wedge walls rise as sculptural design elements. They replace dated storefronts, absorb sound and guide movement, reshaping how occupants experience the space.
A striking new reception desk creates an anchor, both purposeful and visually striking. The sleek updated flooring overlays the existing stone, elevating the aesthetic while minimizing waste. Together, these elements create a first impression defined by quality, artistry and intention.
Contemporary seating areas along the windows were thoughtfully repositioned, transforming previously overlooked areas into comfortable, functional spaces that are flooded with daylight from the adjacent courtyard. Beyond aesthetics, the renovation addresses the practical demands of a high-traffic workplace.
Circulation paths were refined for clarity and flow, while legacy elements such as outdated phone and mail centers were removed to open the space and improve functionality.
What emerges is a lobby that balances beauty with purpose, strengthening the building’s competitive position in the market while enhancing the everyday experience for tenants and guests alike.
