  • Nestled in the heart of Napa Valley, this meticulously designed tasting room artfully blends traditional and contemporary style – where Old World grandeur meets New World imagination. Reimagined from a pre-existing structure, the space was thoughtfully transformed to reflect the winery’s opulent, unapologetically bold wine style.

Inspired by the 19th century English Arts and Crafts movement, and specifically William Turner’s London drawing room, the interiors are warm, immersive, and intentionally curated to reveal themselves gradually. A deep, saturated color palette anchors the space where moody florals, jewel-toned velvets, playful tassels, and bold animal prints are balanced by natural stone, mixed woods, and soft, diffused light. The result is layered visual density without heaviness – an environment that feels collected rather than styled.

One of the primary design challenges was working within strict renovation constraints that prohibited expansion beyond the building’s original footprint. Additionally, the existing stonework – structural and immovable – had to be seamlessly integrated into the new aesthetic. These challenges became opportunities. Former office spaces were converted into the main tasting room, allowing for a more generous and cohesive guest experience. West-facing walls were replaced with floor-to-ceiling glass nano doors, flooding the interior with natural light and opening the space to expansive vineyard and mountain views. This move not only transformed the atmosphere but also reframed the stonework as a tactile bridge between interior and landscape, reinforcing the indoor-outdoor experience.

Upon entry, restored high ceiling beams and custom herringbone parquet floors guide guests toward a grand arched gallery that acts as both transition and theatrical moment. Sweeping views of the Mayacamas Mountains are framed by an opulent tunnel, where bespoke textiles and wallpapers from London’s House of Hackney anchor the interiors. The sequence is intentionally cinematic, using architecture, pattern, and perspective to draw guests deeper into the space.

Throughout the tasting room, original commissioned works by mixed-media artist Zachary Scott, inspired by the wines, punctuate the interiors. Each piece balances art historical references with contemporary irreverence, becoming increasingly surreal as guests move inward – blurring the boundary between reality and fantasy.

For a more intimate expression of the project’s design ethos, an ultra-private tasting salon for two draws from the hushed decadence of historic Parisian salons like Lapérouse. The room is wrapped in sensual details: wallpaper climbing the ceiling, plush furniture designed for closeness, and a distinctly bespoke mood meant for lingering. A custom mirror anchors the space, engraved with guests’ diamond rings – a subtle reference to Lapérouse lore, where mirrors once tested a diamond’s authenticity.

Through layered materials, evocative color, and thoughtful design, this immersive space evokes a richness worthy of further exploration, with each layer revealing something new over time.
