  • The market for upscale restaurants in the heart of Dubai is highly competitive. For XO Atelier, this meant creating an interior that spoke a new language, subverting old notions of luxury and bringing to bear an elegance, simplicity and geometry that would allow guests of Mediterranean-inspired eatery TOPLUM, to enjoy the cuisine in complete serenity.

With offices in Hong Kong and Dubai, XO Atelier has a pan-global multifaceted approach, working closely with international clients, in this case with Operator,

Mad Hospitality. The resulting concept pays homage to regional Mediterranean architecture, taking a light, contemporary approach perfectly aligned to the demands of the operation and the guests.

Their founder and creative director Vera Dieckmann employed a clean geometrical approach to the space, lending it a very easy ambience.

Lighting was the key identifier for the project. XO Atelier worked with Preciosa Lighting to execute the design of the sunset-inspired light feature. Turning to another Czech lighting brand, Vera worked closely with Sklo to produce the custom BALANCE Pendant, a sweeping, symmetrical version of the brands standard BALANCE light. This customised approach, lends a graceful and very distinctive atmosphere, the arches of the light being repeated throughout.

For the furniture, XO Atelier engaged Billiani Italy and Kvadrat Fabrics, integrating their Nordica and Load pieces to perfectly complement the design scheme.
Taking it one step further, Billiani created customised table bases in harmony with the material chosen by the design team, liaising closely to deliver a beautiful, highly customised solution.

The space speaks for itself. Created as a retreat for Dubais playful socialites, its luxurious without being overstated, elegant but imbued with personality, accented with rich materials and a soft colour palette; establishing a rare moment of pause in the heart of a frenetic city.

This is the XO Atelier signature approach; modern and clean.
