  • This popular sushi joint 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant UAE was recently awarded Highly Commended Fine Dining Newcomer at the Time Out Restaurant Awards 2021.

A&T Group Interiors developed the design intent and provided full build works for 99 Sushi bar and restaurant. The outlet is located in the prestigious Address Downtown and seats up to 99 guests both indoors and on its terrace, which boasts panoramic views of Burj Khalifa.

As the space was previously a restaurant, A&T also needed to make adjustments to the existing MEP and BOH while modifying the whole look and feel. The 6,270 sq-ft restaurant took a total of just 90 days to fit-out despite the on-set of the COVID-19 Global Pandemic during the construction phase. A&T changed the normal sequence of work to minimize the delays on the overseas items, by completing all low level and flooring works first and protecting the floor. As materials arrived, they worked around the clock using multiple teams to keep the project on track whilst maintaining strict health and safety protocols and social distancing. The end-product was handed over to a happy client in late August 2020.

As a global chain, it is the second branch of the popular Japanese eatery in the UAE and hails from Madrid, Spain. The client, GM and company director Jaime Castaneda, supplied the initial design brief to A&T, designed by him and brothers Pedro and Fernando de León, in Spain. The interior design and fit-out create a chic dining experience, with plush velvet, mirrors, striking ornate fixtures, and a colour scheme staying true to the brand DNA of gold, black and red. Key design features include a natural moss wall behind the sushi bar, five-metre high gold-finished glass wine cellar, Onyx black marble bar and decorative back-painted mirrored glass throughout the restaurant.

Guests have the option of banquet seating in the restaurant, intimate seating in the private dining room or the option to watch the award-winning chefs at work while dining robata-style at the Sushi bar. Zone control lighting and sound system provide the option to change the mood settings inside the restaurant and in the terrace area for different seating times. The large outdoor terrace is equipped with a pergola and sail works, plus a remote-controlled and retractable roof that enables guests to enjoy the terrace year-round. When dining on the terrace guests can enjoy beautiful views over the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain.
