  • Drawing inspiration from the hauntingly beautiful Dartmoor landscape, Chef Kirk Westaway, a Devon native, found his muse to create JAAN, a Modern British Cuisine Restaurant in Singapore. Rooted in the terroir and produce of Devon, with its ancient moorlands and fertile farmlands, JAAN encapsulates the essence of this captivating region. From the iconic Clotted Devon Cream to the finest hand-reared beef, the menu showcases the extraordinary flavors that Devon has to offer.

At the heart of the restaurant’s design lies the desire to capture the spirit of Chef Kirk Westaway. To accomplish this, a striking centerpiece was needed, a climactic moment that embodies his vision. Amidst Dartmoor’s windswept moorlands and resilient tors, the hawthorn trees stand as testaments to nature’s enduring power. These hardy trees, their gnarled trunks weaving intricate contortions, served as the inspiration for the remarkable feature piece. Crafted by 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘆𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 using hand-blown Italian Murano Glass repurposed from the restaurant’s original chandelier, the piece captures the texture and forms reminiscent of the hawthorn trees, breathing life into the space.

A deliberate contrast between the arrival experience and the dining journey was envisioned. Like strolling through an art gallery, guests embark on a voyage of discovery into the soul of the “artist.” The initial phase welcomes them into an intimate space, adorned with architraves and mirror reflections, evoking a residential ambiance with a low ceiling. Ascending the stairs, a bright and elegant expanse unfolds, signaling the beginning of a dynamic new experience. The lounge area beckons with a curved feature screen, inviting guests into a warm carpeted dining zone, where a herringbone wood floor frames an intimate Bar. It is here that the panoramic views of the city and coastline, coupled with the radiant tree chandelier, create a grand spectacle. Pendant lights hover gracefully over the banquettes, framing the uniqueness of the dining experience.
