  • Years in the making, The Trilogy Hotel, a new addition to the Autograph Collection by Marriott, opened to the public on April 17, 2023. Located in vibrant downtown Montgomery, Alabama USA, Trilogy showcases the integration of an 1851 Greek Revival mansion and neighboring warehouse totaling 117 rooms and 72,000 sq ft of space.

This highly-anticipated renovation includes a main entry off of Coosa Street that opens into a sun-drenched lobby and lounge, spanning the length of the entire facade. Guests and visitors have the option of two restaurants, a more formal dining experience at Kinsmith, or Waterworks, a casual rooftop bar serving craft beers and Southern-inspired small plates with panoramic views of the city. Offering a mix of flexible indoor and open-air spaces, as well as a state-of-the-art gym and function spaces, Trilogy serves as a welcome hub for community and visitors alike.

Designed as a homage to the region’s multicultural history, elements throughout the hotel pull from materials and motifs important to Montgomery, creating a rich framework for storytelling. Upon entry, the eye is drawn to a textural wood wall beyond the front desk. Inspired by the stained glass window patterns at the King Memorial Baptist Church where Martin Luther King Jr. was pastor, this nods to the origins of the building while celebrating the Montgomery community. Another fusion of heritage and modernity is seen at reception, where organically molded ceramic light fixtures inspired by the craft of the Poarch Creek Indians hang above a vibrant teal Alabama limestone desk. All the elements come together in a seamless pairing, skillfully saluting the people of Montgomery.

Important to both the design and integrity of the space, local artists and businesses are featured throughout the hotel, inviting curiosity and interaction in the public areas. With a focus on craftsmanship and local history, a patchwork Gee’s Bend quilt hangs at the heart of the space. Created by a group of women and their ancestors in an isolated town of seven hundred inhabitants, the quilts of Gee’s Bend are among the most important African-American visual and cultural contributions to the history of art within the United States.

Steeped in struggle and hope, Montgomery stands at the intersection of reverence and rebirth. Acknowledging the sacrifice made by the many who toiled, Trilogy Hotel is committed to honoring the city’s past while embracing its bright future. The hotel holds space for each to find their reveries.
