Bob W Kaarti Hotel
KOKO3 transformed Bob W Kaarti Hotel into a sustainable, design-centric aparthotel in Helsinki, blending retro aesthetics with local culture for a unique hospitality experience and future industry influence.
The award-winning design firm KOKO3 has partnered with the tech-powered hospitality operator Bob W to completely reimagine the aparthotel Bob W Kaarti in Helsinki, blending retro aesthetics with local culture to align with the vision of Bob W. This enhancement to a more sustainable, design-centric aparthotel merges the past with the modern, offering a flexible and unique stay while shaping the future of the industry.
Bob W Kaarti caters to next-gen travelers who come for the meeting but stay for the weekend, seeking short and long stays, combining hotel-like amenities with Airbnb’s ease. With no on-site staff, guests enjoy early check-in, late check-out, and a hassle-free experience. From eco-friendly interiors featuring kitchenettes, vintage gaming consoles, and Polaroid cameras to curated local tips, every aspect of the visitor experience is thoughtfully crafted.
A Modern Take on 80s Elegance
Entering through a stone castle archway, guests step into a building that preserves its 80s charm, updated for today’s standards. Formerly known as the Rivoli Jardin, the property now features 55 rooms and suites with kitchenettes, a social kitchen, co-working space, and a communal sauna. KOKO3’s design reflects the character of the Kaartinkaupunki neighborhood. Custom carpets, unique wallpapers, and Finnish lighting by SAAS Instruments infuse the hotel with a distinct local flair.
Expanding Horizons
KOKO3 and Bob W are also working on another project together, Bob W Kamppi, which will enhance a 1970s building with fully serviced apartments while maintaining the original 70s essence and significantly elevating its sustainability credentials and functionality. This sustainable revamp is twice as significant as Kaarti, with 99 fully serviced studios and apartments—a clear indication that interest and investment in the sector are only growing.
