  • Under the ever-present Haleakalā, the Maui Coast Hotel’s Hoku tower provides a tropical escape. Embracing the concept of mauka (or Mountain), engaging patterns, defined edges, plant-like textures, and locally sourced natural material selections reference the volcanic mountain that overlooks the tropical island, inviting guests to cast off their cares and indulge in the unexpected. Misty, matte color palettes cloak the shared, common spaces, giving the contemplative, open, and airy impression of being high above the cloud line, while textural wallcovering inspired by Maui’s tropical flora and fauna pull guests back to Earth. As if a natural extension of the lobby, guest rooms are enveloped in natural textures, light wood tones, and are framed by area rugs inspired by mountainous shapes, establishing a gracious sense of arrival akin to cresting the rim of Haleakalā to watch the sun rise over the Pacific.
