Crna Ovca Ice Cream Shop – Ada Mall, Belgrade
Spatial Objectives reimagines Crna Ovca Ice Cream Shop in Belgrade’s Ada Mall, blending indoor warmth with a seamless rooftop terrace, emphasizing natural light and sustainability in its inviting design.
This Crna Ovca location marks a new step for the brand: its first full retail space inside a shopping mall, moving beyond the kiosk format into a more permanent, fully designed interior. The shop spans 93.11 m² and is directly connected to a large rooftop terrace of 113.95 m², which Crna Ovca has exclusive use of. The space looks out over Ada Ciganlija, one of Belgrade’s most popular leisure spots—a river island and lake surrounded by greenery, walking paths, and recreational areas. It’s a favorite with families, kids, and anyone spending a relaxed afternoon outdoors, which fits perfectly with Crna Ovca’s audience.
The shop’s layout follows its long, linear shape, which runs parallel to a full-height curtain wall opening toward the view. This glass façade brings in ample natural light and creates a strong visual connection to the lake. We placed the main seating area along the glass, using custom designed ecoleather armchairs and two-seaters, colorful Nardi chairs, and round oak coffee tables to create a cheerful and laid-back atmosphere.
The design is intentionally minimal, with clean lines and a simple material palette. White walls and an exposed black ceiling with understated lighting give the space a gallery-like quality, while integrated greenery brings softness and a connection to the surrounding landscape. The long gelato counter is highlighted by a custom linear light in soft cream, providing a quiet focal point without overwhelming the space, while the seating areas are highlighted and emphasized by custom pendant lights.
One detail we’re particularly happy with is the floor. We decided to keep the tiles left bz the previous tenants because they happened to align beautifully with Crna Ovca’s existing spatial identity. So, instead of replacing them, we embraced what was already there—allowing the design to come together more sustainably, with less waste.
The result is a natural, airy and relaxing space that supports the Crna Ovca experience while connected to the surrounding natural environment.
