MIXD’s Mövenpick Grand Hotel elegantly revitalizes a historic 1903 building, harmonizing luxury and local heritage while offering a sensory dining experience and modern amenities at the heart of Wrocław.
Mövenpick Grand Hotel Wrocław is the second hotel of this brand in Poland. It was established in the heart of Wrocław, in a prestigious location, literally across from the main railway station, at the intersection of key streets. The renovation of a building over a hundred years old, originally opened in 1903 as Hotel du Nord and designed by Paul Rother, has restored an important element of Wrocław’s historic urban landscape.
The designers from MIXD aimed to pay homage to the hotel’s historical significance and to reference Wrocław’s architectural heritage from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. An equally important source of inspiration was, of course, the legacy of the Swiss hotel brand renowned for its understated elegance, exceptional comfort, and unique culinary experiences offered to its guests.
The MIXD design team titled their interior design concept “Feast of Senses,” clearly indicating their goal to engage all the senses: sight, taste, smell, touch, and hearing. The foundation of the design was to highlight culinary experiences: a chocolate buffet welcoming guests at the entrance, a spacious corner restaurant The Gate, and a striking bar. The richness and diversity of materials, along with contrasting textures, catch the eye. Brass, veneers, pressed glass, ceramics, stone, cozy textiles, and carpets—these are the materials that invite touch, aging gracefully in a noble way, suitable for a premium hotel interior. Although the interiors are infused with the spirit of classic hotel elegance, they are conceived entirely in a contemporary manner: flexible, with open plans, and designed to meet the diverse needs of guests.
The hotel offers 179 elegant rooms and suites. Guests can enjoy the spa and gym area or relax on the hotel terrace. It is an ideal place for both tourists—just a few minutes’ walk from the Old Town Market Square and the city’s main attractions—and business travelers.
