  • Pinehurst Sandmines, a 30,000-square-foot hospitality and amenities development within Pinehurst Resort’s newest expansion in Aberdeen, NC, recently unveiled its latest amenity spaces and enhancements at Pinehurst No.10 Golf Course. Set across the resort’s expansive 900-acre Sandmines site, the golf course, designed by Tom Doak, anchors the emerging area of the property attracting destination golfers while serving as a long-term asset for Pinehurst Resort – pairing world-class golf with a luxury experience that extends beyond the round itself.

With architecture and interior design by Cline, the new resort accommodations at Course No.10 include a Golf Pro Shop, a halfway refreshment building located at Hole 9, and Station 21, a full-service restaurant open to both resort guests and the public. Together, these features create a cohesive hub that enhances the golfer experience while also serving as a welcoming destination for the surrounding community to gather, dine, and connect. Designed to feel rooted in place, Pinehurst Sandmines draws inspiration from the Sandhills landscape and the area’s rich industrial and railroad heritage. The use of heavy timber construction was a defining design decision, creating warm and expressive spaces while introducing a unique structural and experiential quality rarely seen in hospitality projects of this scale. The architecture blends rustic reclaimed siding, exposed structural elements, and warm interior finishes all to create an atmosphere that feels relaxed, authentic, and deeply connected to its surroundings. Vaulted ceilings and expansive openings strengthen the connection between interior spaces and the surrounding landscape, framing the stunning views.

Delivering this vision required a high level of coordination across disciplines and close collaboration with the client to align design intent, structural systems, and operational goals. This collaborative process allowed the team to expand design expertise within the hospitality sector while delivering a cohesive and durable solution tailored to Pinehurst Resort’s vision.

The Pro Shop establishes a clear and welcoming arrival experience, supporting player flow and retail needs without overpowering the site. Station 21 extends the life of the round by providing a full-service dining experience that attracts golfers, resort guests, and the surrounding community, creating an environment that feels both elevated and approachable.
