Yuki Aspen
Clayton Korte’s Yuki Aspen in Colorado beautifully marries Japanese design principles with a serene material palette, creating an immersive dining experience that invites guests to savor the moment amidst iconic.
Perched beneath Aspen’s iconic mountain views and just steps from the gondola, this Japanese-inspired restaurant is an expression of refined elegance. A layered, tactile environment defined by warm woods and natural stone, the space uses clean lines and balanced proportions to evoke a sense of calm and harmony. Rooted in Japanese design ethos, the material palette features dark, monochromatic tones punctuated by lighter moments. Repetition of wood slats and rippling drapery introduces rhythm, while clear and ebonized oak, plaster, quartzite, and stone establish a serene backdrop for an exquisite culinary experience.
The L-shaped dining space wraps a prominent bar and offers a mix of table and banquette seating, balancing intimacy with social energy. Lighting plays a central role, drawing focus to the tabletops and allowing the cuisine to take center stage. A private dining room can be enclosed with slatted panels, providing seclusion while maintaining a soft visual connection to the larger space. Sightlines into the expansive wine library further enhance the room’s transparency, creating an atmosphere that feels both intimate and connected to the larger restaurant experience.
The furniture reflects the design commitment to natural materials and fine craftsmanship. The semi-custom chairs are crafted in maple and birch and finished with woven textiles and performance faux leather. The custom banquettes feature real leather-finished benches above ebonized white oak bases. Wall panels inspired by traditional Japanese washi paper, reimagined in resin, add a luminous texture, while dramatic lighting heightens the sense of culinary theater and quiet opulence. Thoughtful acoustical design ensures comfort and intimacy throughout.
The result is an interior that feels immersive yet composed. More than a setting, it is an experience. The space invites guests to slow down and savor the moment as design and cuisine converge into something truly memorable.
