  • The Tremend design studio has added a real gem to its portfolio – the Pullman Riga Old Town is a unique hotel where history meets modern design. The elegant interiors combine comfort and functionality, and their character harmonises with the atmosphere of one of the most fascinating parts of the Latvian capital.

Good architecture tells a story – and that is precisely what the Pullman Riga Old Town Hotel is, with its interiors, designed by the Tremend studio, unveiled to the public for the first time. The Tremend team ensured that the design solutions incorporated into the project reflected the unique context of the location, whilst maintaining the functionality and comfort expected of premium-category hotels. Subdued colours, soft furnishings, natural materials and subtle, atmospheric lighting create a space conducive to relaxation, socialising and exploring the city at a leisurely pace.

The hotel is situated in the very heart of Riga, within a complex that blends historic architecture with modern design. It was this context that served as the starting point for the project developed by the Tremend studio. The architects focused on timeless aesthetics and cohesion, creating interiors that are both elegant and cosy. As a result, guests can feel at ease and comfortable from the very first moment.

The architects paid particular attention to the communal spaces, which are the hotel’s showpiece. The lobby, lounge area and meeting spaces invite guests to relax, and the designers have not overlooked the comfort of those using these spaces for work. The rounded shapes of the furniture, stone worktops and soft fabrics combine to create elegant and cosy interiors. Light is also a key element of the design. The high-ceilinged communal spaces, glass-walled atria and carefully planned lighting schemes create a unique atmosphere that changes with the time of day and the weather outside. As a result, the interiors remain dynamic whilst maintaining a sense of calm and harmony.

When designing the Pullman Riga Old Town, we wanted to create interiors that would be a natural extension of the history of this place. We were keen to strike a balance between the elegance of a contemporary hotel and the authentic character of Riga.

“We believe that the best designs do not dominate their surroundings, but allow guests to experience the atmosphere and discover it in their own way” said Magdalena Federowicz-Boule, architect, CEO and creative director at Tremend.

The Pullman Riga Old Town is a place that does not seek to compete with the history of the city surrounding it. Instead, it invites guests to discover that history – through its architecture, atmosphere and carefully designed interiors. This project by the Tremend studio demonstrates that a contemporary hotel can be not only a comfortable place to stay, but also an integral part of the local narrative.
