MOKA BLOOM — Coffee Meets Flowers
MOKA BLOOM in Benidorm, Alicante by Elena Mas Parres Interior Design Studio, seamlessly integrates a vibrant coffee shop with a floral retail space, masterfully preserving and transforming existing elements while embracing sustainability and organic design.
MOKA BLOOM — Coffee Meets Flowers is a hybrid coffee shop and floral retail space in Benidorm, Alicante, Spain, designed by Elena Mas Parres Interior Design Studio and completed in June 2026.
The project combines a 150 m² interior with a 160 m² terrace, creating a continuous experience between hospitality and floral retail.
Sustainability was the starting point of the project. The premises had remained abandoned for approximately 20 years, and rather than erasing its existing character, the design sought to preserve, reuse and transform what was already there.
Original amber-coloured frosted glass was retained, while an existing decorative floor in the floral retail area was recovered and transformed into new tiled compositions, creating geometric figures and decorative patterns from the original material.
The terrace became one of the project’s defining elements. During the years of abandonment, spontaneous vegetation had grown naturally, including trees. Rather than removing them, the design preserved the trees and allowed their position to determine the circulation and spatial organisation of the terrace. Planted islands were created around them, making the existing vegetation an active generator of the landscape rather than a decorative addition.
Inspired by Brutalism and Animism, the interior establishes a dialogue between raw materiality, organic forms and living nature. Vermiculite was used to reinterpret a traditional tirolesa finish, while terrazzo and trowelled finishes create organic geometries. The bar fronts are formed in mortar with graduated colour, adding depth and movement to the material palette.
Acoustic insulation was incorporated to improve the comfort and performance of the hospitality space, while bespoke benches were designed and crafted by the studio specifically for MOKA BLOOM.
The result is an interior where architecture, existing materials and living nature work as a single system — a space in which the architecture adapts to what was already there.
