LUME
Arch Unique’s LUME in Phuket, Thailand, is a thoughtfully designed restaurant that seamlessly integrates its vibrant surroundings with a cohesive guest experience, featuring large windows, an artful palette, and custom elements.
LUME is a 300-square-meter restaurant at Royal Phuket Marina with 39 dining seats and seven places at the bar. Because the marina sits outside Phuket’s main pedestrian routes, the restaurant needed to work as a destination. Arch Unique developed the interior, terrace, custom furniture, decorative elements and table setting as one guest experience, then supervised the work on site.
Large windows give the dining room a direct connection to the yachts and palms outside, but they also expose it to strong tropical light reflected from the water. The palette was calibrated to manage that condition. Warm sand-colored walls soften the glare and form a quiet background for natural timber, satin and mirrored steel, ribbed surfaces, shells and clear crystals. Circular mirrors carry views across the room and introduce a restrained reference to yacht portholes.
The plan keeps guest areas open while concentrating service movement. The bar is positioned in the far corner beside the passage to the back kitchen, bringing the routes of bartenders and waiting staff into one tested circulation line. Curved counters and rounded joinery reduce the visual weight of the compact layout and help maintain clear views toward the terrace.
A fishing net threaded with crystals spans the dining area as the main overhead feature. Its open structure creates impact without adding a heavy ceiling element. During the day, the crystals, mirrors and satin metal catch light from the marina. In the evening, layered artificial lighting gives the same surfaces a warmer and more intimate character.
Custom details complete the scheme, including shell-shaped handles at the service station, selected tableware, white vessels and floral arrangements. None of these elements is treated as a separate decorative layer. Together they allow the restaurant to move from bright daytime dining to a composed evening setting while retaining a clear connection to Royal Phuket Marina.
