Mayak Restaurant
Seven Studio designed Mayak Restaurant in Kyiv, Ukraine, featuring a private lighthouse and pier that enhance its waterfront atmosphere, while large panoramic windows and a complex timber ceiling structure create a seamless connection between the interior and the scenic Dnipro River.
Mayak Restaurant is located directly on the banks of the Dnipro River in Kyiv, Ukraine. Conceived as more than a restaurant, the project brings together interior design, architecture, landscape, and the atmosphere of waterfront leisure. One of its defining features is a private lighthouse positioned directly by the water, together with a private pier that allows guests to arrive by boat or yacht. These elements became important starting points for the interior concept, inspired by travel, navigation, and movement on water.
The restaurant covers approximately 8,900 sq ft of interior space, excluding the outdoor terraces. Large panoramic windows open toward the Dnipro and the Kyiv skyline, creating a constant visual connection between the interior and the surrounding landscape. Natural light fills the space during the day, while the river becomes an integral part of the guest experience.
The material palette combines natural ash veneer, timber, stone, brass details, and abundant greenery. Turquoise upholstery references the water outside, while deep wine and neutral tones create additional contrast and visual depth. Large planting compositions are used both decoratively and functionally, helping divide the generous open interior into more intimate seating areas.
A complex timber ceiling structure extends throughout the main dining spaces, creating rhythm and visually connecting different zones. Large glazed sections in the roof bring additional daylight into the interior.
Custom-designed circular chandeliers composed of numerous crystal elements form some of the most recognizable features of the project. During the day, they catch and reflect natural light, creating an effect reminiscent of sunlight on the river surface. In the evening, they become sculptural luminous objects within the space.
Two bio-fireplaces provide additional focal points and introduce warmth and intimacy into the large dining hall.
Rather than using literal nautical motifs, the design communicates its waterfront identity through materials, color, circular geometries, brass accents, natural light, and carefully considered spatial composition. The outdoor terraces extend the restaurant toward the river and reinforce its strongest quality: a direct and continuous connection with the Dnipro.
