Oak Whisky Bar

The design of Oak Whisky Bar by M.R. Studio is derived from raw and texture materials to give patrons a rustic authentic glimpse into the whisky making experience in Hangzhou, China.

  • area / size 2,000 sqft
  • Year 2019
  • Location Hangzhou, China,
  • The façade design with repeated application of metal pipes highlights the strong and singular design idea, one that evokes a sense of industrial style. Entering the bar and passing the semi-outdoor drinking area, guests are greeted by the intriguing yet sophisticated artwork; various heights of pipes decorate along the arrival staircases, leading the guests to a mysterious journey upstairs.

The moment stepping into the second floor, dozens of wooden barrel decorated feature lighting immediately transfers the guests into a rustic wonderland. Inspired by the whisky distillation process, those cluster feature lightings accentuate the design motifs while enriching the depth of space. Another focal point of the space is the connecting arc-shaped feature that creates an interesting set of seating with a sense of privacy. Under the wooden arc-shaped structure, cool-white ceiling lamps light up the space while the sandybrown hue of leather furniture increases a layer of sophistication. In order to provide a variety of choices of seating, designer tactfully adopts vertical bars to create a semi-private room for larger groups of guests.

Another captivating space in the bar – the private room, applies a simple elegant approach.

Dining table and chairs echo with the circle shape of ceiling; Orderly arranged etched display space from the feature wall, with the delicate lighting dancing around, the space is emitting the soft and refined ambience that distinguished from others.
